Proofreading/Copyediting
Sometimes you already have a translated document and just want to confirm the quality and accuracy of the translation without having to pay to get it translated again. Pacific Dreams can proofread or copyedit your already translated documents to ensure you're not getting a translation hack job that sounds more like Greek than your target language, unless your target language is Greek, of course.
In the translation industry, the technical difference between proofreading and copyediting is that proofreading is just marking errors and suggesting changes, whereas copyediting is actually going through and correcting errors and making changes. Although often times the terms proofreading and copyediting are used interchangeably, copyediting is usually more desirable, as proofreading requires the client to insert actual changes. Pacific Dreams is flexible and can accommodate individual clients to meet your specific needs.
Our proofreaders/copyeditors compare the original document to the translation and check for accuracy of translation, as well as clarity. The translation should not only convey the same concepts and nuances as the original document, but it also needs to be unambiguous. And, of course, we check to make sure the language is technically correct, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Rates for proofreading and copyediting are much less than translation.
