Translation

Translations should not only convey the originally intended message, they need to be naturally worded and appropriate in the cultural context of the target language.

We understand that different fields require different sets of skills and levels of understanding. We are familiar with the syntax and styles required in different fields, and know the industry-specific jargon and terminology.

Projects are translated by experienced teams of native speakers for both Japanese and English documents to ensure that translations are accurate, smooth, and professional, using the state-of-the-art Computer Assisted Translation software TRADOS.

TRADOS is unmistakably different from automatic translation or machine translation software, which can produce translations very different from the original document. TRADOS software does not process translation itself. Instead, once sentences are translated by our expert translators and input into TRADOS, a database is created in the TRADOS Translation Memory (TM). The translators decide whether to use the translations in the TM database or if they need to make modifications. In short, human translators perform the actual translation, and TRADOS is a tool they use to enhance the consistency of the translation.

Pacific Dreams translates Japanese and English product specifications, ISO 9000 series qualifications, instruction manuals, computer software help files, technical built-ins, patent specifications, and more. Although technical translation is our forte, we also translate meeting minutes, business correspondence, agreements and other legal documentation, financial reports, and press releases, to name just a few.

Confidentiality

Pacific Dreams maintains client confidentiality as a top priority. We guarantee strict confidentiality on all spoken, electronically transmitted and hard copy communications. When requesting a translation quotation, we ask that prospective clients submit a copy of the document(s) so that we may prepare a quotation. If the quotation is accepted, both parties will sign a confidentiality agreement before any work begins. If they decide to go with another agency, all materials will be destroyed. Your sensitive business information is safe with PDI!
