「NFPA79：産業機械用電気規格 2012年版」日本語翻訳版 発売開始！

NFPA（National Fire Protection Association：全米防火協会）より“NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, 2012 Edition”（NFPA 79 産業機械用電気規格2012年版）がアメリカで発売開始となりました。弊社Pacific Dreams, Inc. ではいち早く本規格書の日本語翻訳版作成に取り組み、現在「NFPA79：産業機械用電気規格2012年版」日本語翻訳版として発売しております。

NFPA79前回の改訂版（2007年版）から約5年が経過し､今回の2012年版では下記のような項目におきまして、重要な変更が見られます。

NFPA 79とは？
NFPA79 産業機械用電気規格は、従来NEC（National Electrical Code：全米電気安全基準）では、カバーされていない安全面を最重要視した産業用機械ならびに製造装置に対する実践的な電気規格書です。この規格書の主目的は､機械を操作する作業員に対して操業の安全性を保証するということと､電気サージや過電流から引き起こされる可能性のある火災を防止するというところにあります。アメリカの機械・装置メーカーでは、設計段階においてこの電気規格に準拠するように指導が行なわれています。

また機械・装置の安全性認定試験検査機関では、安全性試験検査実施の際に、この電気規格に準じまして、各項目ごとの綿密なチェックを行い、検査レポートの作成を行います。ANSI（アメリカ規格協会：American National Standard Institute）、UL（損害保険会社協会研究所：Underwriters Laboratories）およびその他の国際規格との整合性を高めるように編集されています。この電気規格をクリアしていれば、米国のみならず諸外国の電気の安全性基準に対しても十分に適合することができます。

NFPA 79の日本語翻訳版

NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery 　 2012 Edition Japanese Translation Available Now!

Pacific Dreams, Inc. is proud to announce that the Japanese translation of the NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery, 2012 Edition published by NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) is available now.
The 2012 NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery spells out essential protection for operators, equipment, facilities, and work-in-progress. This edition presents the new best practices for the full spectrum of equipment -- from single-motored drill presses to complex automated manufacturing systems.

Critical changes in the 2012 NFPA 79 include:

• New definitions and revised rules for expanded wireless and cable-less technology that align with IEC 60204-1
• New sections in Chapters 6 and 16 recognizing deadly arc flash and stored energy hazards to protect workers and correlate with the 2012 NFPA 70E
• New rules for selecting over-current devices for motors, and the important addition of a 90 degree C temperature column to the conductor ampacity table. This Standard corresponds with the 2011 NEC.
• Addressing concerns from the field, a first-time section in Chapter 12 details conditions where Appliance Wiring Material (AWM) can be used as special cables with clarifications on determining suitability for use under specific conditions.

As it has been five years since NFPA has published a new edition of this standard, the 2012 edition includes a great deal of new or modified content. In addition to the above changes mentioned by NFPA writers, other significant changes include modifications to sections dealing with short-circuit current rating or interrupting rating, branch circuit for protecting motor, grounding circuit, machine-mounted control equipment, indicator light circuits, receptacles for accessory equipment, and servo drive system conductors.

What is NFPA 79?
The NFPA 79 Electrical Standard emphasizes safety issues not covered in the NEC (National Electrical Code) and is applicable to industrial machinery and high-tech process equipment.

The NFPA 79 Electrical Standard is edited in order to maintain a high level of consistency between ANSI (American National Standard Institute), UL 508, Standard for Safety Industrial Control Equipment, and other international standards. Complying with this electrical standard is sufficient to meet the electrical safety standards of other countries besides the United States.

Not only does NFPA 79 address safety issues to avoid fire and electrical shock hazards presented by industrial machinery, but it also covers the standards and guidelines used in the United States. The Japanese as well as the English version of this document is thus vital for manufacturers, testing inspectors, equipment designers, and electrical engineers who do business between the United States and Japan.
